Metalcasting processes offer the most flexibilty and design freedom of any metalforming process, demonstrating the valueand efficiency of near net-shape manufacturing.
In Sand Casting, the first requirement is the
design and the making of a Pattern. This is a duplicate of a
part that is to be cast but modified in accordance with the basic
requirements of the casting process and the particular molding
technique that is to be employed. Patterns are made of
different material and are determined primarily by the number of
castings to be made. For small quantities, wood is most
often used. For larger quantities, aluminum or certain hard
plastics are employed. Typical applications are Machinery,
Agriculture equipment, Aftermarket Automotive parts, Architectual
Decor, Marine, Etc.
